Annual activity
Specific activities at each branch
At TASSEL Japan, the branches of Tokyo EAST and Tokyo WEST are currently active.
1: Fundraising Year-round
We hold various events throughout the year and raise funds. All the collected money will be sent to Cambodia to cover the basic costs of education, as well as food and medical support.
2: Raise awareness through various activities throughout the year
Through these activities, we will make more people aware of the situation of families suffering from poverty in Cambodia, and help create a society where they can have hope.
3: English lessons
December-April
Teach English remotely to either a specific group of children or Cambodian teachers in rural Cambodia.
We teach Phonics, Reading/Conversation, Paragraph Writing, and Essay Writing classes.
For Phonics and Reading/Conversation, we teach "live" over video-conference to a group of approximately 20 children or to individual teachers at a specific time each week.
For Writing, we communicate bi-weekly via a Cloud Folder with individual students. Through the classes, we share not only English skills but also compassion and kindness with our Cambodian students.
4: Site visit & service activities June-August
Every year, we organize a trip to Cambodia (currently not available due to COVID) in order to interact with our students, hold face-to-face English classes, visit poor families, etc.
We also bring used clothes, medicine, and other necessities from Japan and distribute them to families in need.
The summer service trip is an integral part of TASSEL's activity, as it not only helps the people of Cambodia but is also an invaluable way for volunteers to learn in-depth about the problems we need to address.
